Welsh Place Names

I have struggled with my pronunciation of many of the places in N Wales. This is my guide and comes in handy when catching buses.

Cemaes (kem-ice)

Cemlyn (kem-lyn)

Trefor (tre-Vor)

Nefyn (ne-Vin)

Pwllheli (pccch-Heli)

Tudweiliog (tid-will-ee-og)

Gwynedd (gwin-e-th)

Aberdaron (ab-er-da-Ron)

Abersoch (ab-er-saw-k)

Criccieth (crick-ee-yeth)

Machynlleth (mac-unt-leth)

Pob lwc â hynny!

Hi Lucy, Wow what a trip you’re having and braving all this weather at the moment too! I’d love to join you in East Dorset if that’s possible. I could only do 4 or 5 miles with you…or join you for a coffee so you weren’t held up! Ness says you do some good coffee and cake stops! Do let me know your route around Swanage area and dates…looking forward to hearing some of your stories!!
Love Karen x (Andrea and Ness’s mum)

Hi Karen. I have just realised that I forgot to reply to your message. I am so sorry. It has been an amazing trip so far and I’m taking an extended break away from the weather. When I’m down your way it would be lovely to share a walk. I don’t go fast. And of course I’m always up for coffee stops!! I think it may well be June next year the way I’m going xx
